SVOLT Energy has developed and is producing a variety of batteries, including lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and so-called cobalt-free batteries (binary lithium nickel-manmanate batteries that remove cobalt from ternary nickel-cobalt-manganese batteries), and it is unclear which battery technology the company has licensed to Exide. Subir Chakraborty, CEO of Exide, said its batteries, which will be assembled in three different ways using two popular battery chemistry components, will meet the different needs of Indian customers.
Exide is participating in India’s National Advanced Chemical Battery (ACC) storage program, which is linked to production incentives from the Ministry of Heavy Industries.
