The dual-motor four-wheel drive version of the Zeekr 001 delivers an output of 400 kW and 686 Nm, allowing an acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. This version has a ternary lithium battery with options for 86 kWh and 100 kWh capacities, providing CLTC cruising ranges of 546 km and 656 km, respectively.

The first units of Zeekr 001 with the 140 kWh Qilin battery have already been delivered to customers, and it was just a matter of time before we would see the first review. The whole automotive world is watching this one, and the question always was - how close can Zeekr 001 get to the claimed 1,032 km of range, in real-life testing conditions?

With that cleared out of the way, let''s examine the video - it is in Chinese with tons of Chinese stickers and emojis flying all over the screen. Lucid Air is the only other EV that comes close to this result. InsideEVs tested the Dream Edition at constant 70 mph (112 km/h) from 100% SoC to empty battery and managed to achieve 500 miles (804 km). When the Lucid Air Dream Edition was tested by Edmunds, it managed to achieve an even better range of 505 miles (812 km). That was a huge result, but the Zeekr 001 blows the Lucid Air out of the water.

840 km of driving range at highway speed is an unprecedented result, it crowns the Zeekr 001 as the king of the electric cars. There is no doubt that at lower speeds, that range will increase significantly. If the Zeekr was driven at 70 mph (112 km/h) it would have passed the 900 km mark without an issue. It seems the 1,032 km range quoted by the manufacturer can actually be achieved, and if the car is driven gently, that range can be exceeded.

When it comes to manufacturers'' claimed range of electric cars, we have learned to be skeptical. Hardly any car out there manages to get within a sniff of the official rating, with the exception of BMW i4. As we can see, the battery tech is improving at a mind-blowing pace. Last year we were still talking about range anxiety, but this year we can start planning that long-promised cross-country road trip.

Zeekr, the electric vehicle brand under Geely Auto, has announced the official delivery of the Zeekr 001 WE version equipped with the 140 kWh CATL Qilin batteries. This car version boasts an impressive CLTC comprehensive working conditions range of 1032 km.

The Zeekr 001 is a 5-door, 5-seater hatchback with dimensions of 4970/1999/1560 mm, a height of 1548 mm, and a wheelbase of 3005 mm. For the 2023 model, Zeekr 001 has introduced three new body colors: orange, blue, and night black.

The 2023 Zeekr 001, released earlier this year, maintains the previous model’s design while upgrading its configuration and battery life. The WE version of the 100 kWh model can be upgraded to the 140 kWh CATL Qilin battery pack. The WE version comes with a 100 kWh battery, offering a CLTC standard range of 741 km and an acceleration time of 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds, with a starting price of 300,000 RMB (43,000 USD). Users can purchase the 1032 km range upgrade package for an additional fee of 103,000 RMB (14,800 USD), bringing the starting price for the 1032 km version to 403,000 RMB (57,800 USD).

The CATL CTP 3.0 Qilin battery, released in June 2022, features a volume utilization rate exceeding 72% and an energy density reaching 255 Wh/kg. Compared to the 4680 battery pack, the Qilin battery pack offers 13% higher power under the same chemical system and battery pack size.

From January to April 2023, Zeekr 001 sold a total of 18,935 units, reflecting an 82% increase compared to the same period in 2022. In the Chinese market, the main competition for the Zeekr 001 comes from the Tesla Model Y.

Zeekr is the first EV brand to start selling vehicles with the Qilin battery supplied by CATL. In April the Zeekr 009 MPV with the 140 kWh battery pack started deliveries to customers, and as promised, the Zeekr 001 is joining its bigger sibling. The first units of the premium EV with a range anxiety-shattering battery pack have already been delivered.

Yes, the Zeekr 001 boasts a 1,032 km range certified by CLTC - that means it''s so optimistic it is nearly impossible to achieve in real-life scenarios. Saying that though, even in real life, the range will be ridiculous, well above 800 km, which would still make the Zeekr 001 the longest-range production EV in the world.

There are only 4 electric cars that can boast a higher range than 700 km - three of them are Lucid Air models, and the 4th is the RAM 1500 REV, although that one is still far away from entering production. A range of over 800 km is simply unheard of and - hopefully - is a sign of things to come.

Zeekr, one of many brands belonging to Geely, has three battery-powered vehicles on the market. The 001 was the first, it was then followed by the 009 MPV, and now the smallest, Zeekr X has joined the model lineup. This premium brand offers cars with fairly unique design features and is making a name for itself within the auto industry.

The single motor puts out 200 kW and 343 Nm of torque, which is enough for decent on-road performance, but it won''t be breaking any speed records anytime soon. The word here is efficiency and limited supply. Only 1,000 units of the 140 kWh battery pack will be available initially, and the company hasn''t confirmed whether that''s a yearly limit or a total supply.

Zeekr is having a really good time, the company has recorded nearly a triple increase in sales in April, when compared to April last year. Its sales grew by over 20% from a month ago, and it seems the trend will continue. Zeekr is bringing its X model to Europe and other markets, and providing the pricing is competitive, sales should be the last worry for the company executives.
