Shizen Energy''s proposal titled "Feasibility study on Microgrid Control Solutions Utilizing Digital Technology for Expanding Renewable Energy in Vietnam"has been selected for the Feasibility Study (Low Carbon/Decarbonization Field) for the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) of the FY 2021 Study on the infrastructure development project for acquisition of JCM credits (Project commissioned by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry or METI).
This study aims to expand the introduction of renewable energy in Vietnam by introducing a microgrid control solution that utilizes the digital technology developed by Shizen Energy. For industrial parks in Vietnam, Shizen Energy will materialize the technical and economic issues when introducing solar power generation, storage batteries and energy management systems (EMS), consider optimal solutions and business models. Shizen Energy will also investigate the feasibility of introducing solar power generation + storage batteries + EMS and performing microgrid control for multiple consumers in the industrial parks.
Last year, Vietnam has increased its greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction target by 2030 to 9% and by 27% with international assistance, and is actively working to reduce GHG emissions. The Environmental Protection Law revised in November 2020 stipulates a plan that includes an emissions trading market, and is actively working on climate change countermeasures. Electricity demand in Vietnam continues to increase, and the “8th Power Development Plan (PDP8)” currently being formulated will reduce the proportion of coal-fired electricity and increase the proportion of renewable energy excluding hydropower to 29% in 2030 and 44% by 2045. The expansion of renewable energy in response to the increase in electricity demand is an urgent issue.
Shizen Energy already has a track record of operating 21MW of wind power and 35 MW of solar power generation in Vietnam.
In this study, Shizen Energy will investigate the feasibility of the renewable energy expansion business by using the IoT/AI on the demand side using digital technology, and aims to demonstrate the microgrid control using solar power generation, storage batteries, and EMS for industrial parks, as well as to commercialize our business.
