The Bulletin has confirmed reports of power cuts in various areas, including Mukim Gadong, Mukim Serasa, Mukim Mentiri, and Mukim Berakas in the Brunei-Muara District. Additionally, large areas in the Belait, Tutong, and Temburong Districts have also been affected.
The power outage has resulted in widespread disruption, affecting commercial buildings, offices, and businesses.
Reports have emerged of individuals being stranded in elevators within commercial buildings.
Furthermore, the Bulletin observed that traffic lights in the Mukim Gadong area have malfunctioned, causing traffic congestion and confusion.
Some educational institutions have been compelled to cancel classes and exams due to the ongoing power outage, according to concerned parents and guardians.
The Department of Electrical Services (DES) is actively investigating the cause of this incident.
In a related development, parts of the Belait District experienced a separate power outage lasting nearly two hours the previous evening.
At press time, no official information has been provided by the relevant authorities on the situation.

The Public Works Department (JKR) issued a statement, notifying the public that water supplies would be disrupted in the Brunei-Muara, Belait, and Tutong Districts as the power interruption persists.
Eighteen petrol filling stations across the Brunei-Muara and Temburong Districts have also temporary shut down their operations due to the power outage, leading to long queues in the remaining petrol stations that are open.

In a statement issued on social media, the DES said that it would like to apologize to all the affected customers, stating all recovery work has been carried out in accordance with safety procedures.
The DES also said that the power outage was due to a failure in one of the installations in the 66kV transmission system. Detailed investigations are still underway to identify the cause of the failure.
