The first charging station for electric cars in Pristina was inaugurated today.
The mayor of the Municipality of Pristina, Shpend Ahmeti, together with one of the shareholders of ProCredit Bank, Klaus-Peter Zeitinger, took part in the inauguration today.
This was announced through a press release from the Municipality of Pristina, where it is announced that this project was implemented with the financing of ProCredit Bank Kosova and is one of the Municipality''s projects implemented in the wake of efforts to protect the environment.
During the inauguration, Ahmeti emphasized the fact that this project comes after a year of work by Pristina, which entered the group of cities of the EBRD and which are participants of the Green City Action Plan - GCAP (action plan of green cities).
Within this plan, Pristina is expected to realize several new projects.
"Efficiency (renewable) energy will be adjusted in 47 buildings, and by the end of the year we will sign the contract for 30 new buses, 6 of which will be electric. We have signed and are before the approval of the project for central heating, the second largest project in Central Europe for heating with solar panels, which will be built near Pristina and is a project with nearly 75 million euros and which will be a project with KFW, the German Government and the EBRD, which will cover all neighborhoods that have individual residences", said Ahmeti.
The owner of ProCredit Bank, Klaus-Peter Zeitinger, on the other hand, announced that this project with Pristina is just one of the many projects in the wake of ProCredit Bank''s efforts as a socially responsible institution that always tries to find different forms to invest and give its contribution, in order to create better living conditions for the community.
"The installation of three electric chargers today is only a symbolic part that ProCredit bank has given and continues to give to the community in Kosovo but also in all the other countries where it operates. We are dedicated to returning a portion of our profits as an institution back to the community. Green investments continue to remain of great importance for us, taking into account the impact they have on preserving the environment, but without neglecting the support in fields such as archeology and others. When we talk about electric chargers, we can say that their price has already dropped significantly", he said.

Everyone can have one, and I personally charge my electric car in two hours without having to use any more fuel. The question can be asked where is the source of this energy? We know that in this case, unfortunately, we have coal as a source, which is by no means a clean source of energy".
"Of course I will change, you just have to give the government of your country some time. However, everyone has to start somewhere and these are the first steps towards change. I am glad to see the positive movement on the part of the municipality in this direction and ProCredit Bank will always accompany and support such ideas. I use the opportunity to invite all municipalities to think about such projects and I also call on citizens to invest in electric cars," said Klaus-Peter Zeitinger.
